For You

“It would have been so much easier if I had learned this as a kid!”

That is the exclamation I usually hear when bringing self-care concepts to adults.

Most of us have areas of self-care we find challenging, so I welcome and encourage everyone to peruse Wonderful Me: A First Guide to Taking Care of Yourself  and SongsToGrow, to see if anything is helpful to you. Sometimes children’s books and songs have a unique way of reaching parts of us that are otherwise hard to connect with.

As with children’s books, children’s songs can also be useful to adults, so you may find the songs helpful as well. These songs, in production, and themes include Respecting yourself and others, promoting sleep, making choices, finding peace, befriending yourself, and reducing screen time.

Additionally, in the song section there will be songs written exclusively for adults, inspired by the adults my clients are today. These are in production and will be added starting later this year and are intended to support personal growth and healing. Sample themes include: Difficulty confiding or sharing with others; lack of physical safety; lack of emotional safety; boundaries; neglect; and having grown-up with self-focused parenting.

What adults are saying about the book for themselves:

Honestly, us grownups could also use this as a helpful refresher, given self care is a lifelong learning!

“This is the story that I needed as a child. It not only teaches why it is so important to care for yourself but it goes into detail of how you can do it! It starts with things that may seem simple like physically caring for yourself but also goes into setting up healthy boundaries. and how we can love ourselves well in different aspects of our lives.”

“Wow. I wish someone had published this book when I was a kid.”

“This book also explains that self-care is more than just pampering yourself occasionally. Self-care is everything we do on a daily basis to keep us healthy and safe, both physically and mentally.”

It’s never too late to build the supportive roots of self care!

This tree amazes me! It grows aerial roots! As it develops, it shoots down roots from its higher branches, and garners extra support! We can all do that too!
